Sustainable Tours in Bukit Lawang

Already since a long time we were dreaming of providing our own eco-conscious treks, tours and activities. 2018 our dream came finally true and we started the first self operated treks.

Selamat datang lagi, welcome again, my name is Riski and I am the founder, manager and head guide of Sumatra Vibes - thank you for visiting my page. I am more than happy that you are here reading this. As a dedicated, licensed trekking guide I have gained extensive knowledge and expertise in leading guests from around the world on tours in the Gunung Leuser National Park and around Bukit Lawang.

I am aware that our National Park is as unique as it is endangered at the same time - so I've made it my mission to protect it in the best way I can - with responsible, ethical trekking tours. That's why I founded Sumatra Vibes Trek & Travel. Our highest rule is to show you our beloved jungle without harming the wildlife or nature. I believe that the more people care for our rainforest the more they are going to want to protect it as well.

The sumatran Orangutan

Say hi to Suma - one of the last 6.000 Sumatran Orangutans

She grew up in the former rehabilitation center that was opened from 1973 until 1991. That's why she is classified as a semi-wild Orangutan and as well the reason why she likes to come to one of the jungle camps to watch humans. We absolutely love her.

Maybe you already know that you can see wild & semi-wild Orangutans in Bukit Lawang. We want to make sure that you know upfront what you can expect.

Learn more about the story behind Bukit Lawang, semi-wild orangutans and what is important for the future on a trekking with us.

Please note that we don't make any exceptions if wild or semi-wild Orangutan, we do NOT feed any of them. The only reason that hopefully does never happen could be that we worry about your safety when a semi-wild orangutan grabs you and doesn't let you go. Please always listen to your guide so we can avoid this occasion.
